Behind the Scenes: Fashion Meets Technology

For the past six or so weeks, I've been working on a group project at university where we are to produce a whole magazine.  Our magazine is a female technology magazine for the professional women as there is currently no actual publications on the market.  This week we are shooting our editorials and yesterday was our studio shoot.  We chose to do a Mad Men inspired fashion shoot and incorporating technology with the clothes.  Call time was 9am and it was a bit stressful whilst setting up but once we got going, it went quite smoothly.  Our model, Ali, was a mixture of Kristen Stewart and Mila Kunis and had previously worked with ASOS.  We also had a make up artist, who had an envious amount of Illamasqua make up!  I took along my camera to get some behind the scenes pictures and thought I'd share them with you.

And here's a sneak peak at one of the actual images...

I will post the final editorials and also my features once they are complete.
Are you a secret technology geek?

Tusting Look Book Shoot

A couple of weeks ago I was sent to Bedford to assist on the Tusting Look Book shoot.  I had to get up at 5.30am (a time I hope to NEVER see again) to get a train into central and through blurry eyes I managed to get to Kings Cross and onto the train.  Once we made it to Bedford and were taken to our location, that alarm clock seemed all the more worth it.  We turned up to the Tustings farm where we were greeted by a field of cows.  Of course, as respectable 'adults' we decided that the mature thing to do would be to try and get them to come over to us...

Once we'd gotten over the cow situation we really took in the beautiful house.  The pictures just don't do it justice.  Now then, before I go on I will fill you in on Tusting.  If you have never heard of Tusting, you've probably been living under a rock as they've been around for donkeys years.  Tusting create luxury luggage and leather products and have been doing it ever since 1875 (pretty expert by now).  They've been seen in Vogue's October issue and even have the Royal stamp of approval with both Wills and Kate having a Tusting bag of their very own (and we all know how much I love Kate).

Back to the shoot... Here are some photos from the day!

This Aston Martin turned up for the shoot and quickly became the star attraction.

That's all until the next Push PR adventure! Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine this weekend!

Click, Flash! : 18ANDEAST A/W 11 Shoot

Have I ever mentioned how much I love the brand 18ANDEAST?  One of the perks of interning for a successful PR company is all the brands I've discovered along the way.  Another perk is getting to go along to the Look Book shoots to cover it for both Push PR's blog and also for Non Optional.

As always, the ladies of 18ANDEAST made me feel extremely welcome and we had a blast.  I even got to do a bit of styling, I love a berry sock!  The model, Ria, had shot the previous seasons look book and is the perfect 18ANDEAST girl - edgy, feminine and leading a style of her own.

The shoot was divided into three different looks; Colour Pop (including A/W's must have colour - orange) Fresh (a mixture of 18ANDEAST's signature prints) and Jazzy Evening wear (featuring that all important star print, but with a difference).

Whilst on shoot we all fell in love with some boots which we styled with a lot of the shots - they are just too amazing.

£62

These boots, as well as several (okay, ALL) of the new 18ANDEAST pieces are now on my 'spend student loan on...' list.  Without further ado, I give you an exclusive look into the new A/W collection by 18ANDEAST.

Regal Fegal

One of my favourite jewellery boutiques, Regal Rose, recently took to the countryside to shoot their new website campaign.  They took a boho/rock chic approach with the styling and all the new pieces look amazing.  They were lucky to get a fantastic model who fit the brand perfectly.  Here are a few of my favourite shots.  You'd never believe they'd been shot in Knebworth.

You make me feel, like I'm living a Teenage Dream.

You may remember that I blogged about a photoshoot myself and a fellow student did for our Imaging unit for university.  Well, we've had a stressful few days what with low resolutions, editing weird colours out of the skin and laying the damned thing out but we are finally ready to mount and present on Thursday.  Here are our final three images laid out in the style of Lula magazine, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Teenage Dream
(Click for larger images)

Our opening double-page spread.  It will look exactly like this once mounted, except the obvious split in the middle of the two pages will be gone.

Page two.  This has a 'polaroid' type effect and is positioned in the middle of the page.  The blank space gives a clean and crisp feel.

Page three. This one is positioned into the top right hand corner and is smaller than the page itself, leaving blank space under captions and to the left.

I am really pleased with how they came out! I will probably take a picture of the mounted work as you can't really understand the story until they are.

Lacking everything.

Today i've been lacking in many areas.  I've been wanting to blog for a few hours but no inspiration has come.  I'll blame the weather, it's stressing me out.  We are shooting our 3 page editorial on Thursday and we hope to do it outside in a park, but at the moment this looks unlikely.  Luckily we have the studio booked.

In other news, I have a trial on Tuesday for Weekly Wrinkle as the editor-in-chief couldn't decide on who to choose.  I'm looking forward to proving my worth.  This internship would be invaluable to me and I have a great idea for a series of blogs to go along with it!
I've also met someone and as it's a day before valentines, this fills my heart with hope that cupids being nice this year.

I found this picture and I love it:

I adore tigers and the art of trompe l'oeil.

How's your day been my pretties?
