Preview: Primark A/W 2011 Look Book

I was pretty excited when I stumbled onto the Primark A/W 2011 look book.  The last two collections they've done a photo shoot campaign to accompany and the photo's really give the shop a slightly more luxe feel, even if it is Primark.  The collection seems to have taken inspirations from the late 60s - early 70s with clean lines, bold colours and some whacky prints.  They have taken inspiration from the catwalks of D&G as well as Marc Jacobs, using stars and spots in their creations.  There's even a hint of Topshop Unique's Dalmatian collection thrown in for good measure.

I can't wait to get some of these items in my wardrobe, especially the colour block chiffon dress.

February Favourites

Already, the second month of 2011 is over.  We've had the Baftas, the Oscars and our beloved LFW.  We saw snow storms at Burberry, Dalmatian fever at Topshop Unique and a McQueen documentary paying tribute to the great talent.

Here are my February favourites, a mixture of videos, pictures, TV addictions and products/clothes i've been using all month - enjoy!

Trend forecast: A/W 2011

It's been a whirlwind of a week for London fashionistas.  London Fashion Week is coming to an end.  After watching the catwalks and cooing over beautiful garments I'd never be able to afford, here are my predictions for A/W 2011 trends:

Burberry Prorsum

Colour(s):  

Bright colours will still be with us next season although the standout colour will be red.

Marc Jacobs

Topshop Unique

Print(s):

 Polka Dots.  They've been everywhere, Koma, Jacobs, Unique, DVF, Burberry etc.  Next season will be about finding your inner dalmation, there's plenty of choice, after all there was 101 of them.  

David Koma

Diane Von Furstenburg

Fabric(s): 

Leather, chiffon and fur.  Fur is an obvious choice for winter, whether it's faux or not it will keep you warm.  Leather gives even the girliest of girls that edge, whilst mixing it with chiffon see's that no man forgets your femininity.

Nicole Fahri

Shape(s): 

Oversized garments will make layering up that much easier next season.  Big shoulders have also been seen on the catwalk.  

These are just a few ideas and observation I've made over the last couple of weeks, what do you think will be an A/W 2011 trend?

Kate Bosworth

I adore this outfit, when I saw her step out of the car at Burberry I fell instantly in love.  It's caused some controversy but I like it! I think it's the studded leather skirt that does it for me.

The day has finally arrived, i've only been dreaming of it for about, well four months.  David Koma is known for this asymmetrical designs and his celebrity clientele.  His ready-to-wear collection was showed at BFC Show Space this morning at 09:45 and after shouting and screaming at both Vogue.com and Style.com, i've finally been able to see it!

Polka dots look to be huge next season, Marc Jacobs tied them into his collection and TopShop Unique took inspiration from Disney blockbuster 101 Dalmations.  David Koma also incorporated polka dots into his Fall collection using different fabrics, leather and fur (not sure if it was faux or not).  

I love the contrast of the cream and matte black in the cuffs, high neck, waist and shoes. 

I think this is one of my favourite pieces from the collection, I love the slight introduction of colour on the right side in both leather and the fur cuffed sleeve.  

This look reminded me of a poodle, the way the cuffs are abnormally larger than any other detail on the dress.

I love how Koma fine tunes everything, even the boots have a polka dot.  I like the cut out detail to the cape and the contrasting fabrics. 

This coat is cut on the bias, giving it more movement.  Again, I like the detailing although in this look they are very subtle - leather belt and seams.  

I'm extremely excited about this collection and it didn't fail to impress.  If you like Davids designs you can grab yourself one of his dresses over at TopShop.

Marc used the trend in a more subtle way, using the fabric to create a sequin look as well as using sheer tights with polka dots.

Spot detail on bag and hat add to the ensemble.

Love the contrast between the shirt and skirt with the tights.
