Getting Organised

In four weeks time I'll be on a sun lounger by the pool, or maybe the beach in Spain with two good friends. It comes after such a hectic five months at uni and I really can't wait (probably why I've been banging on about it so much).  I've been trying to get myself organised so that I don't panic before whilst packing.  Getting organised has consisted of a few online purchases - well it would be rude not to! Here's what I've picked up so far. 

River Island Candy Stripe Bikini - Top £12, Bottoms £10

A holiday always means a new bikini.  I usually only get one a year, sometimes not even that and so I try and avoid tan lines as much as possible.  I love all the candy colours for this season and so decided on this bikini from River Island.  I got it on Asos.com for the student discount as I think it's ridiculous that River Island don't offer it!

ASOS Spot Dress with Contrast Spot - £17.50 in the Sale

I need some dressier items for the evenings when we go out dancing or for a few cocktails. When I saw this in the sale I couldn't resist. I've got some brown heeled sandals from Primark which will look great with this.  

New Look Aztec Ombre Cover Up - £12.99

For me, New Look and Dorothy Perkins are two shops that can be a hit or a miss.  Whilst browsing the New Look site, I accumulated several things in my basket.  Apparently maxi dresses really suit me and I thought this would look cute over the top of my striped bikini whilst on the beach or walking to and from the bar.  At £12.99 you really can't grumble.   

New Look Print Shell Top £17.99

I think most girls when looking at clothes think 'what could I wear with this'. When I saw this I had several options and I just loved the print.  Definite winner.  

New Look White Kaftan - £9.99

This probably wont get busted out on the holiday until I have a bit of colour (currently verging on albino...) but I thought for £9.99 it would be silly not to pick up a much needed basic.  I'll mostly be in swimwear for the duration of the holiday.   

New Look Patterned Platform Strappy Shoes - £24.99

It was love at first sight. I first saw these shoes in an issue of More! magazine months ago and knew I had to buy them.  After weeks of looking for them on the website, I gave up all hope that they even existed until last week.  They were the first items in my virtual basket and possibly my most loved thing out of the order.   

Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil - £19.00

This was on my beauty lust list but it was an item that I needed to get.  With bleached hair, I can't risk any more unnecessary heat damage and this product is essentially sun cream, for your hair.  I will also purchase the shampoo which is supposed to wash chlorine and salt out of your hair - which will come in mighty handy!  

As for feeling organised, I'm getting there.  I still need to change up money, get travel insurance and make a list of everything I need and tick off what I've got, as and when I get it.  Are you going on holiday over the summer months?

Trending: Pastel Jeans

It may be Valentines Day but I'd rather talk about my true love, fashion.  All the S/S collections are out in stores and one thing I've really been eyeing up is pastel jeans.  Now if you know me, I can imagine your jaw has just dropped pretty quickly, I don't wear jeans.  For the past four years, I've been a complete leggings junkie but something has changed and I fully intend to embrace this latest trend.  Here are some of my favourite pastel or coloured jeans.

1. New Look; £19.99 - These were the first I found and I adore the colour. Originally when I fell for this trend, it was lilacs and blush colours that I imagined myself in.

2. Topshop; £38.00 - Slightly pricier, these leigh jeans are lovely with contrasting turn ups.  

3. River Island; £35.00 - Admittedly, these are jeggings (one step at a time people) but I love the colour and they look like jeans with pocket and button detailing.  

4. New Look; £19.99 - Another of the cheap and cheerful New Look jeans.  This orange creme colour would look best with a tan and gold accessories.  

5. Topshop; £40.00 - An online exclusive, these high waisted beauties would look great with a tucked in tee.  I like the colour, but not sure I could get away with it against my fair skin.  

STYLE TIP: To pull off pastel or coloured jeans, it's best to wear white, grey or black tee's.  I really like oversized tops at the moment, anything from a sheer blouse to basic t-shirts.  If you're daring, go for a contrasting colour to colour block.  

I am definitely going to give this trend a go, even if it only lasts in the changing rooms.  Who knows, one day I might be weaned off leggings for good.

May time wishlist.

It's a the first day of a brand new month (which reminds me, I need to change my calendar!) and with that brings lots of different events.  I will finish university for the year on the 27th, which seems to have completely flown by, this time last year I was revising copious amounts to get to where I am today.  It's also a pretty big birthday month with my brothers and uncle on the 7th, my youngest niece on the 25th and also some of my friends.  At the end of the month i'll be preparing myself to start my first internship, which means new wardrobe additions, gotta look good in the office!  With student loan due and an impending pay day, I've been screen shopping (onlines window equivalent) for some things I'll need to get me through this month! 

I've been eyeing this up for months, and after watching Fleurs video on how she uses it I was convinced further.  I swear by my GHDs although, I find I can never get the desired look when I use it to wave my hair.  This has the same technology as the conical wand, only it's flat.  I think this would help me create different looks for day to day in the office, as well as giving me another option to poker straight hair in the evening.  Have any of you tried this?  I'd love to know your thoughts.  

H&M; £29.99

I've been after a new light-weight blazer for the S/S months and especially now as I wont want to have to carry a heavy jacket with me to London and back, this seems the perfect fit.  It comes in many colours but I've been loving terracotta this season.  

ASOS; £45

Floral wedges, perfect.  These would look great with a pair of shorts or a dress or even leggings.  A great  everyday shoe (although I would pack flats for walking to the office!)

Unfortunately, when it comes to practicality my Chiltern just isn't big enough to fit everything in!  When travelling around London I'll need room for a book, my diary and of course a pair of flats!  This isn't too big and isn't too small, just the right size.  

Superdrug; £6.00ish 

I've heard so many rants and raves over this product that I can't wait to try it.  It's the Sleek contour kit including a highlighter as well and a contour powder.  Thinner face minus the dodgy size zero diet, perfection!

I've also been on the look out for a neutral eye palette as the Naked palette never seems to be in stock.  Corrie over at Dizzybrunette3 picked up a great palette from the MUA Pro section in Superdrug.  It has a lot of colours that I could combine to make a great soft smokey eye, and get this, it's only £4.00.

Affordable S/S 11 Wardrobe

Now that we've finally seen the sun for the first time this year, it's time to pack away the chunky wintery clothes and bring out the pretty garments that you've been wanting to wear for weeks.  

Looking around the high-street brands I'm going to try give you my version of an 'affordable' S/S wardrobe.

Multi Cassandra Bow Skirt; £18

This sweet little skirt is bang on trend with it's 'paper bag' style waist. This would look great with a sheer chiffon shirt, cream knee highs and wedge boots.  Alternatively on warmer days you could forget the tights and where peep-toe wedges.  

Nude Glamourous Sheer Blouse; £20

This would be the perfect blouse to tuck into the above skirt.  A little bit chilly? Chuck over a nude blazer or boyfriend style cardi.

Natural Jenna Peep Toe Wedges; £25

These are a gorgeous colour for the summer and would look great mixed with prints.

Petite Tan Spot Scallop Collar Sleeveless Shirt Dress; £32

A bit of a mouthful, I know.  What a gorgeous neutral colour.  This would be great when picnicking in the park (a rather romantic notion there).  Brogues and cream ankle socks would be a great match to complete this look.  

MOTO Bleached Denim Floral Playsuit; £35

Loving this floral goody.  If it's not that warm out to go completely bear armed, then you could pop a cotton tee under the playsuit.  

Chambray Speckle Ruffle Shirred Sleeveless Tunic; £20

This is a great everyday dress, paired with the wedges from fashionunion.com would great pretty pastel ensemble.

Absolutely adore this jacket.  It's a great stand out item for any look.  Wear styled as the above picture shows or with a white vest and vintage levi shorts.  

Cream Crochet Bow Shoes; £26.99

Great for the summer to get the air to your feet without have them all on show (if you don't have a foot fetish!).  

Beige Cropped Chinos; £32.99

If you're a trouser kinda gal these are just the thing to be wearing this season.  Pair with some espadrilles for an all out european look or with sandals, depending on your mood.

Money, money everywhere and not a dime to spend: Pay day wishlist.

It's nearly that time again, and it couldn't come any sooner.  I get paid this Friday and after revelations that I don't have lectures now, i'll most likely end up shopping.  

I've been seeing lots of these Kimono jackets around and I quite like them - perfect for this season, the silk fabric is light enough to keep you from sweating in the heat and heavy enough to keep you just right for the breezier nights.

I saw this top and took a shine to it. I think it would look great with black leggings, loafers and a chunky knit for the colder days.

After seeing these all over the vintage fair last month, I've been after a pair.  There are a few on eBay which are around £25.00 - a lot cheaper than Urban Outfitters charge.

As always, there are a few bits of make up i've seen and wanted.  This purpley lip gloss is one of them, although it looks rather dark it comes out a lighter colour and looks good on fair skin.  If I end up in Selfridges next week, I may take a look and possibly purchase.
